Nicole Ari Parker, an American actor, who has appeared on film and TV, and in stage productions, is known for portraying Teri Joseph, a flamboyant attorney in the show on Showtime called Soul Food. Following her wedding, she was Nikki Kodjoe. As a child, she was an actor with a natural. In the Maryland competition with high school students, she was awarded the prize for the best Actress. In addition to her work at the theater as well as with 'The Washington Ballet Company.' She received a degree in Acting from New York University. The family was born from Mumbai, India and raised in Nigeria from the age of seven. Contractor was well-informed about world travels and a variety of different cultures from a young age. She attended boarding schools between the ages of 7 to 9 in London. Then, she and her family returned to Toronto (Canada) where they were raised for her entire life. Contractor studied classical ballet in Toronto. Additionally, she excelled academically. At the Etobicoke School of the Arts (a public school for high schools that is specialized in the arts) the student studied dance and theatre. Contractor took the decision to study acting more seriously at age 16 after almost 10 year of dance. When she graduated from high school, Contractor accepted a scholarship at the University of Toronto to pursue a dual major in psychology and sociology. In addition, she obtained an advanced degree in theatre. Following a semester at the University, Contractor went to an open call audition for the production Pericles at the prestigious, world-renowned Stratford Shakespeare Festival [Ontario, Canada and was offered the role of lead. The year 2002 was a great one for her. Canadian reviewers praised her performance in 92 productions of Pericles. The actor was invited to take part in the conservatory, where only eight males and four females are selected to take a crash course of 20 weeks on classical theater which she gladly accepted. Contractor's participation in the next play-season was confirmed and she got the part of Hermia from A Midsummer Night's Dream.
